Task 1: Well done for getting everything online. The powerpoint is well put together, but when it comes to producing your examined coursework, be careful that you only use magazine in the correct genre, or at least that they are predominantly in the correct genre.
There is a clear sense that you have used your research to inspire your production and it is fairly convincing as a fashion magazine. You do need to think a little more carefully about fonts, sell lines and relative sizes of your image, but it is not bad at all.
That said, strictly speaking you were mean to produce two covers. Next time, stick doggedly to the brief.
Task 2: You have a really good range of photography here. You clearly have a good eye for lighting and mise en scene. This will really help you to achieve a high grade in your coursework, because they really lift the quality of any piece that you produce. As you move onto your next task (first properly marked mock assessed piece) give careful attention to layout and design. Really try to lift elements from your research. Be especially careful about your use of fonts and about creating lines and spaces by aligning your text carefully.
You clearly have A grade potential.
Task 3:
Research
This is always the hardest part to get your head around because there are no marks awarded for it. It needs to exist or you lose marks, but there is nothing forcing you to make it excellent. That said, the more carefully considered and detailed this is the more likely you are to make a good job of your production and website. I'd say you needed a little more range here, but you have done a pretty good job.
Magazine
The cover is very good. I think there are a few small details missing that may have lifted it still higher, like a pull quote from the artist that says something about representation, but all in all you've done a really good job. I like the use of sell lines and the fonts are well used too. The contents pages are really nicely done too, but I feel like there is not enough density of text here. I know that that carries over into the website, but I suspect every music magazine you see has smaller fonts and more text. That said, this is clearly well put together and worth 20/25.
Website
I'm not quite so certain here. There is no doubt that you have produced something that does the job of being a website for a music magazine, but it does feel too sparse to me, especially at the top of the page. Opening that page made me wonder if there was anything else to view and the first impression needs to be that there is something well worth reading. You probably needed a set of tabs along the top and to reduce the size of your masthead block. I suspect there are many more images on most music magazine websites that you looked at and this is the reason that I tend to advise people to copy, copy, copy. You can always add in embellishments as you work from your drafts to the final piece, but if you copy first then you know you have something that will feel authentic. That said, the photography is excellent and it is still fairly convincing. Still achieves 16/25.
Convergence
This is always the most difficult part to get right. I don't think you really managed to transfer the sensibilities of your magazine over into your website, but there were lots of little connections, like the fonts, the images and the two calls to action that were well thought out. There is definitely room for improvement here, but you should be pleased with what you did. 6/10
Total Score is 42/60 = B grade
